Looking Back at The California Housing Market
Recently at Alain Pinel Pleasanton we were able to get some great, detailed information on the California housing market. Charts and graphs can tell a great story about where we have been, and hopefully about where we’re going.
Where was the top of the California housing market? May 2007 @ $594,530 for a detached house.
Bottom of the California housing market was February 2009 @ $245,170.
This can be compared to the median price in Alameda County. Up 42% from the bottom @ $352,000.
We see a peak, we see a trough (bottom), we see inventory shrinking too…
Compare these figures above to the supply and demand charts we posted 2 weeks ago.
This information is great to look at and study as you evaluate the current housing market. While it does not tell us what will happen, the data we do have shows the housing market is improving and not dropping like it was in 2008.
Check back next week as we publish the information on home sales from January 2010.
